Provide light shade from direct summer sun and ventilate freely to encourage air flow to reduce excessive high temperatures.

Raw yucca root is poisonous to dogs. It contains a natural steroid called steroidal saponin that poses a threat to your dog's health and can be fatal in extreme cases. It is usually best to prune back a yucca in the spring to early summer, so that the plant has enough time to recover before winter.

If you get your yucca plant to flower, it's important to manage the flowering stalk afterward. Once all the flowers are gone, you can cut the entire stalk right down to its base. Just like removing dead leaves, this will allow the plant to focus energy on new growth.
